The mechanism of the projector, both continuous and stuttering. In between frames, the projector light goes dim, as the flame inside goes down... the little person who blows on the light through a tube, flaring it up bright, stops and wheezes in a stop-gap breath... then the metal shutter goes down, the little person's mouth is back on the pipe, exhaling that breath, blowing hard to make the flame gogogo into brightness. Over and over again.
